Nope! You can get started straight away. That said, having a Mental Health Treatment Plan (see below) can help reduce out-of-pocket costs (by about half), so it’s worth considering.
Yes! Simply visit your GP and ask for a referral to Soulty Co under a MHTP. Once you have the referral, get in touch and we’ll get started. MHTPs subsidise sessions – you’ll typically receive $87 back, though it won’t cover the full fee.
We believe mental health support should be accessible, so we’ve kept sessions affordable (at least in the mental health world). A 50-minute session is $170.
We keep a small number of bulk-billing sessions available for those experiencing financial difficulty. If this applies to you, reach out and we can discuss your situation.
Yes! We’re based in Australia and currently work with clients Australia-wide. If you’re located overseas and interested in connecting, feel free to get in touch - we’ll do our best to offer appointment times that work across time zones.
Both Mental Health Social Workers and psychologists are trained to provide evidence-based therapy and are registered with their respective professional bodies. Both can offer Medicare- rebated sessions when accessed with a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP. The key difference lies in training and focus.
Mental Health Social Workers often take a holistic, trauma-informed approach, considering not only thoughts and emotions but also relationships, life experiences, and the broader social and environmental factors that influence wellbeing.
Psychologists are trained in psychological assessment and diagnosis, and may work within more structured therapeutic models focused on specific mental health conditions. There’s no right or wrong choice - what matters most is finding support that feels aligned with you. Your needs, preferences, and the therapeutic relationship you build are what make the real difference.
No prior experience is needed. We simply ask that you seek clearance from your GP, particularly if you have any current or recent health concerns. From there, we’ll complete a thorough physical health screening and gently guide you through the foundations, supporting you every step of the way.
For online personal training and yoga sessions, we do ask that your camera is switched on so we can monitor technique and prioritise safety and injury prevention.
